Singer and songwriter Janelle Monae stole the show with her stop-and-stare crystal-lacquered gown, complete with a draped hood and open back. She paired the exquisite gown with over $700,000 (R10.5 million) worth of diamond jewellery, including a diamond choker featuring 26.54 carats of diamonds set in 18k white gold. She also wore a pair of 6-carat diamond halo studs, a 7-carat diamond ring, 4-carat flower ring, and 6-carat eternity bands set, all set in 18k white gold.

2. Charlize Theron

Statement necklaces were a big jewellery trend on the Oscars red carpet, and Charlize’s showstopping diamond necklace was certainly one of the highlights. The Best Actress Nominee for Bombshell wore a black silk gown with a sculpted neckline, highlighted by the gorgeous marquise-cut diamond totalling 21 carats, and framed by an additional five carats of diamonds, set in platinum. Totalling 165 stones, the necklace is valued at more than $5 million (R75 million). As if that wasn’t enough bling, she wore beautiful diamond stud earrings totalling $24,300 (R370 000) and band rings, valued at $33,300 (R504 000).

3. Scarlett Johansson

Nominated for two Oscars – Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress – the Marriage Story actress sparkled from head-to-toe in $2.5 million (R38 million) worth of diamonds. Scarlett wore a pair of custom-made earrings. The stunning earrings were pear-shaped and round-cut diamonds totalling more than 26 carats and set in white gold, while her diamond bracelet had more than 29 carats and set in white gold. Her jewels for the night totalled $2.5 million(R38 million).

4. Zazie Beetz

Joker co-star Zazie Beetz stepped out wearing not one, but two diamond necklaces, totalling over 97 carats and worth a whopping $1.3 million (R20 million)! The one necklace featured more than 78 carats of diamonds set in white gold, topped by a choker of emeralds and diamonds totalling more than 19 carats, including a 5.49-carat, oval-cut emerald at its centre. The two necklaces looked like one piece, which made the artful pairing even more intriguing. She complemented the look with a matching pair of diamond earrings and rings.

5. Mindy Kaling

Actress Mindy Kaling paired her magnificent marigold-hued gown with diamonds, including a statement diamond necklace featuring 125 carats of marquise- and round-cut diamonds, all set in white gold. To add to her glamour, she finished the look with diamond earrings with 4.23-carats set in white gold, and a ring with a 1.23-carat round brilliant-cut diamond and 5.12 carats of round-shaped diamonds set in white gold.

The Little Women director shone brightly on the Academy Awards red carpet in more than 96 carats of emeralds and diamond jewels. She paired her deep olive-green belted gown with a deco-style necklace featuring seven bright emerald beads totalling 56.13 carats, surrounded by white diamonds totalling almost 26 carats and set in platinum. Actress Julia Louise-Dreyfus wore a minimalist navy gown, that really allowed her jewels to sparkle. She was decked out in more than 92 carats of diamonds featuring 60.18 carats of diamonds set in platinum. She finished off the look with a pair of 8-carat round brilliant diamond studs, an 8-carat diamond bangle bracelet, a 3-carat diamond bird brooch, a 3-carat sunflower diamond ring, 2-carat diamond band ring, and a 6-carat radiant-cut diamond band ring, all set in platinum.

Actress Kaitlyn Dever wore a breath-taking crimson custom-made gown, crafted from ethical and eco-responsible certified silk satin, and covered in red crystals. She accentuated the strapless sweetheart neckline with a 26-carat necklace set in platinum, and a pair of 11-carat dangly diamond earrings with ruby drops, set in platinum and 18k yellow gold.
